Beth & Chris’s Boho-Festival Wedding in Oxford: A Photographer’s Dream

If I had to describe Beth & Chris’s wedding in one phrase, I’d call it the Glastonbury of weddings. From the moment I arrived in the middle of a misty Oxford field, I knew this celebration would be unlike any other. The atmosphere buzzed with festival vibes, despite a light drizzle that threatened to dampen the day. Little did we know that by afternoon, the sun would break through, creating the perfect backdrop for a boho extravaganza.

A Rainy Start & A Golden Finish

The morning started off with gentle rain showers, lending a soft, romantic mood to the preparations. The couple had pitched a beautiful tent in the field, while some guests arrived a day before and spent the night, other guests arrived equipped with umbrellas and wellies, embracing the festival spirit from the get-go. By late afternoon, the clouds parted and a golden sunset bathed everyone in a warm glow—truly the best of both worlds for capturing vibrant photos.

The Boho Aesthetic

Beth’s dress was a floral, off-the-shoulder dream, perfectly reflecting her free-spirited style. Delicate layers of tulle and lace added movement and texture, especially when she danced. Chris complemented her look with a floral shirt and a relaxed waistcoat, his laid-back vibe accentuated by his dreadlocks. Together, they were the epitome of boho-chic.

The bridesmaids wore sage-green dresses that harmonised beautifully with the lush Oxford countryside. Flower crowns, colourful confetti, and wild blooms enhanced the festival atmosphere. Everywhere you looked, there were bright pops of colour and eclectic details—think bubble machines, live music, and laughter echoing across the fields.

Festival Vibes & Unique Touches

One of my favorite moments was Beth & Chris’s entrance in a pedal-powered rickshaw. It felt like they were rolling onto the main stage of a summer festival, greeted by cheering friends and family. As the day went on, more playful elements kept popping up: guests blowing bubbles around the newlyweds, spontaneous dance-offs, and even the local cows making an appearance in the background (it’s not every day you get to photograph a wedding with farm animals casually grazing nearby!).

The couple’s love for music and fun was evident in every aspect—from the acoustic set during the ceremony to the upbeat tunes that got everyone onto the dance floor in the evening. The tent came alive with fairy lights and vibrant colours, truly reminiscent of a festival marquee.

Photographing the Magic

As a wedding photographer, capturing Beth & Chris’s day felt like documenting a joyful, free-spirited carnival. The unpredictable weather added a dynamic layer to the shots, while the wide-open field gave us plenty of space to explore creative compositions. I loved snapping candid photos of guests enjoying the festival atmosphere—laughter, dancing, and a sense of pure excitement filled the lens at every turn.

When the sun finally broke through, we ventured into the field for golden-hour portraits. The light was magical, highlighting the intricate details of Beth’s floral gown and the genuine happiness on both their faces. Those last shots of them hand-in-hand, framed by the sunset, felt like the perfect conclusion to their boho-festival fairytale.

Why This Wedding Was So Special

  • Festival Atmosphere: The entire day felt like a mini-Glastonbury—rain boots, music, dancing, and an overall sense of freedom.

  • Personal Touches: From the rickshaw ride to the floral attire, Beth & Chris poured their personalities into every detail.

  • Weather’s Silver Lining: Though it began with rain, the weather eventually rewarded us with stunning sunshine and a golden-hour glow.
